Lunch Bags For Kids
As any hard working mother would know, cobbling together filling
lunch boxes that your kids can really enjoy takes some experience and getting used to. At first it seems like a
very daunting and complex task as you try to mix and match the right solid meal like a sandwich with a drink either
juice or a soda into the mix. Sometimes the mix doesn’t get right so you can sometime s imagine the kids trading
off their lunches for someone else’s lunch. Sometime parents dream of putting together the perfect lunch bags for
kids. And giving them cafeteria food isn’t the answer.
It all boils down to the
appearance of the meal. No, it doesn’t mean it has to look like a table with silver and food on silver dishe4s but
it means how receptive the child will be to the food. If you have to make it want to be eaten, not thrown away. One
thing you must now is that kids like options when being presented with food. If your food doesn’t even look
remotely edible, they wont east it. It is also a good idea to give them variations of food rather than the same
meal all the time. Always take note of the age difference of the kids. A two year old might love food that is a bit
sweet and easy to eat where as a six year old may like soda instead and something like a heavier sandwich
instead.
Even the carrying bag for the
lunch makes a difference. Older kids and teenagers would rather use the standard brown bag than something flashy.
Young kids normally want something that they looks alive, not dull. Sometimes getting the right lunch bag makes the
difference. They might not eat out of a boring lunch box but give them one that has some robots or unicorns
prancing around on the front and they immediately grab it.
One good idea is to keep the
juice or drink of the child cold at all times. Given the fact that kids have this requirement, you can try to get a
ice pack or insulating pack that can wrap around the thermos or container and keep the temp as is for hours to
come. Kids hate soggy food so be sure to wrap them in napkins or keep them away from cold or wet
items.
Of course you are concerned with
their health as well. It’s a good idea to mix the food up with healthy alternatives and not sugar coated food all
the time. If you give them carrot sticks and bland sandwiches then it would end up as trading currency in the
school. The trick is to pack the meals so that kids would love it. Try loading them with more milk items and fruits
with some twists. If the child sees that the food in their pack is good then it gives them the incentive to look
forward to the next day with it. As with all things in life, there has to be a balance in foods. Not too much sugar
and not too much chemical mixed ones either.
